First I’d like to say thank you to those who took the time to visit our blog after we announced on Monday that we had launched it. It’s very rewarding to me to see that our Members are engaged and wanting to participate in this important discussion.
I wanted to take a moment and introduce our four strategic initiatives that our Board has developed for our Chamber 2020 plan. They are:
- Service to Members and Community: Act as the regional community conduit and primary driver of connections among business, community, non-profits and government.
- Quality of Life: Sustain a high quality of life for business and community.
- Economic Growth: Create an environment where business locates, expands and remains within the region.
- Operational Excellence: Sustain our viability through business practices that model the best examples.
On behalf of the Board and the Chamber staff, I want to say that we are invigorated by the challenge of developing a work plan to achieve these four initiatives. As I’m sure you can imagine, we’re busy behind the scenes taking care of the many details of how to achieve success. As soon as I can, I’ll write a post on the details and ask for your feedback.
In the meantime, if you have any ideas that you think fit or belong to one of these initiatives click below and submit your comments. Many of the successes of our Chamber in the past started with an offhand comment by one of our Members. So I hope you’ll take a moment and share your thoughts or ideas.
Mike
Thanks to all for their combined efforts on this comprehensive undertaking. It is the kind of vision that keeps Naperville at the forefront.
I have no new ideas to offer, but I would suggest that we continue to stress the need for transportation. As we grow and grow out, as we age, as other cities start to experience the growth we have enjoyed, I believe it is in the best interest of our business community to have a quality system that keeps our community connected and keeps business within convenient and affordable reach.
This one issue can impact all four strategic areas that have been defined and could be the driving force that maintains the excellence we have achieved to date.
Thanks for asking!
